A person makes a connection between two ideas if they are related in either of these components.We can use matching by related concepts on both the components. Splitting ideas into components allows us to compare them more precisely, as well as “mix and match” problems and solutions. Furthermore, after people learn a lot of ideas, they get more of a sense which sorts of techniques are useful for which kinds of problems. They can better see all the techniques that are good for a set of related problems, or alternatively, see all the problems that can be solved by a set of related techniques.
