[MindMeister mind mapping tool that additionally shows "signposts" to all the neighbors of a given node would be entirely reasonable and recenters smoothly when you click on them could be nice (note: scroll wheel zoom would also be great here). I just wish it didn't distort so much on click, and completely become unusable with many graphs. Regardless, building a good explorable graph interface is a very important low-hanging fruit challenge that simply requires some good D3 hackers to sit down and write the code for it, and I think it would be immediately useful in a variety of fields. :-)
